ROCKSTAR MOJITO
This is Rockstar Mojito, released in spring 2017 as an AMPM exclusive in the U.S.
I’ve been looking forward to it since I really like the cocktail Mojito (●´ω`●).
By the way, there’s no alcohol in it, so anyone can enjoy the refreshing lime and mint flavor of Mojito in this regular energy drink.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of ROCKSTAR MOJITO
Once opened, a strong lime scent immediately fills the air. At first, I thought, “Wait, is this AMP?” because of the strong lime scent when the gas is released. But when poured into a glass, the mint aroma becomes stronger than the lime, creating a more authentic Mojito-like fragrance.
The liquid is lime green, and if you’re imagining a typical Mojito, the color might be a little too intense... It looks more like a juice than a Mojito.
When I took a sip, the lime’s tartness and the light sweetness of artificial sweeteners hit me, and then the mint flavor spread across my mouth, lingering even after I finished drinking.
Personally, I prefer my Mojito with plenty of ice, so I found that Rockstar Mojito tasted much better when poured into a glass full of ice. The artificial sweetener flavor and the lingering tartness tend to overpower the refreshing minty taste, so if it's only lightly chilled, you may not be able to enjoy the Mojito essence. It feels more like drinking a cheap artificially sweetened juice.
However, when chilled with plenty of ice, the lasting lime fragrance is very pleasant. I think everything—taste, fragrance, and aftertaste—improves and feels more like a Mojito. Perhaps it’s the Rockstar Mojito flavor itself that feels a bit too persistent.
By the way, at room temperature, the artificial lime flavor and the sweetness from artificial sweeteners, combined with the strong mint flavor, make it feel less refreshing. Adding a lot of ice really boosts the minty coolness ( ´∀`)bグッ!

Design and Taste of ROCKSTAR MOJITO
The design is very impactful, and when I saw it in the press release, I was excited. When I actually saw the Rockstar Mojito crammed into iceboxes at an AMPM in Los Angeles, I was deeply moved (●´ω`●).
This was amazing (*´艸`*)
However, after trying it, my honest opinion is that the taste might be a bit off even when drinking it straight from the can. I started to feel a subtle sense of discomfort, not just with the taste but also with the design.
It’s only 20 kcal per can, so personally, I think it would be better to make it a pure zero series, with a white can, silver crack design, and a green star to match the Mojito image more closely.
The green color of the can matches the liquid inside, and while that’s fine, the more I look at it and drink it, the more I feel that it doesn’t quite feel like a Mojito.
When compared to a real Mojito, it’s a bit different, so it might be better to think of it as “juice that’s been made to resemble a Mojito” rather than expecting it to be an authentic Mojito experience (´・ω・`)
