This is the new flavor, ROCKSTAR PURE ZERO WATERMELON KIWI, added to the Zero Sugar ROCKSTAR PURE ZERO series in March 2021.

It seems that the previously released ROCKSTAR PURE ZERO WATERMELON, which came out in 2015, has been revamped after PepsiCo's acquisition. This time, it's not just a single watermelon flavor like before, but a mixed flavor with kiwi.

This is a true mix flavor with both tastes clearly distinguishable, which is quite rare.

Although it’s a zero-sugar, no-fruit-juice drink, it’s not a realistic fruit flavor. The artificial sweetness or processed flavor is kept to a minimum, and without forcing the flavors or smells too strongly, the sweet and sour taste of kiwi and watermelon blends smoothly and naturally, making it a high-quality zero-sugar energy drink.

It contains 240mg of caffeine, taurine, milk thistle, ginseng, and guarana. Since it’s high in caffeine, it’s best to avoid coffee, tea, or other energy drinks on days you drink the Pure Zero series.

After PepsiCo’s acquisition, the Pure Zero series has a simple design featuring a white and silver base color, combined with a color reflecting each flavor. This one seems to be inspired by watermelon flesh.

The single-color design feels somewhat plain, lacking decoration, leaving a slightly unsatisfactory impression. It’s hard to believe this is the design for an energy drink brand that has been around for over 20 years.

This design flaw resulted in the flavor name, product name, and series name being obscured when looking at the front of the can.

This will likely be problematic for store displays... Before the acquisition by PepsiCo, the flavor names were visible, but now it's hard to tell what the new product is or even find a flavor you want to try.

It’s common for design quality to drop after acquisitions, as seen with Coca-Cola and Monster Energy, but I hope the brand will return to its original, unique design soon.
