At the end of 2023, it seems that there was a redesign and renaming of the flavors as part of a restructuring of the ROCKSTAR RECOVERY series. The product I’m reviewing today is the newly renamed ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGEADE, which is a change from the previous ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGE.

At the end of 2023, the reason for the name change was unclear. However, with the launch of three new ROCKSTAR RECOVERY flavors in 2024, the reason for this change has started to make more sense.

All three of these new flavors are unified under the "Fruitade" category. From this, we can infer that the ROCKSTAR RECOVERY series shifted from a “fruit” flavor to a “fruitade” flavor lineup starting in 2023.

So, here’s my review of the newly restructured ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGEADE.

When you open the can, a refreshing orange scent bursts out. Both the scent and the light orange color seem unchanged from the previous ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGE. Let’s give it a try.

Upon tasting, you get a natural and fresh orange juice flavor with a balanced sweetness and mild tartness. The flavor seems almost identical to the previous ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGE before the name change.

This is a fresh orange juice that you’d want to drink in the morning, and because it’s non-carbonated, the sensation is soothing, just as it was when the recovery series was first released.

It’s not too weak in flavor, not overly rich like a high-juice concentrate, and doesn’t aim for an overly realistic orange fruit taste either. It strikes the perfect balance of drinkability and deliciousness, making it the definitive non-carbonated orange drink.

Personally, I use this flavor after returning from hunting abroad, on the morning after when my body is tired and dry. This gentle orangeade seeps into you when your body can’t handle heavy flavors. If you’re traveling to the U.S., I highly recommend buying ROCKSTAR RECOVERY ORANGEADE to bring back and drink the morning after you’re exhausted. It’s a great choice.

It contains 160mg of caffeine, taurine, milk thistle, and ginseng. Like its predecessor, it contains 3% orange juice.

With 3g of sugar and 25 kcal, it’s gentle on the body. In the U.S. in 2024, low-sugar, low-calorie energy drinks have become mainstream, and I believe the recovery series, which has been around for over 10 years, will see even greater demand. With the right marketing, I hope the flavor lineup will expand and ROCKSTAR will regain its popularity.

At the end of 2023, the design was renewed, and the flavor name was changed from “ORANGE” to “ORANGEADE.”

The background design is hard to interpret, giving off a somewhat awkward vibe, which is a bit of a letdown.

From this design, the flavor name is now prominently displayed on the front and sides of the can.

It was unacceptable for the flavor name to be invisible when the can was displayed in stores, and after a year, the design has finally been improved.

There is now a mention of the caffeine content and the fact that the drink is non-carbonated.

With the large star covering about two-thirds of the can, I still question whether this size is really necessary. However, I appreciate the improvement with the flavor name on the front, and I hope future designs will evolve into something simpler and more straightforward for consumers to understand.
