Released in July 2022, the ROCKSTAR RECOVERY series introduced a new line with collagen, and two flavors were launched. One of them is the ROCKSTAR RECOVERY PINEAPPLE COCONUT.

A mix of pineapple and coconut flavors has appeared before in the ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA, but what kind of flavor can we expect from this one in the Recovery series!?

Upon opening, a rich coconut scent fills the air. The liquid itself is a vibrant yellow, reminiscent of pineapple, but with an artificial hue. I wonder what it will taste like!? Let's try it out.

When I take a sip, the first impression is sweet coconut water. The pineapple’s sweetness and sourness come through faintly in the aftertaste, but the main flavor is definitely coconut. Those who are not fond of coconut may find it hard to even try this one.

The mouthfeel is light, and the aftertaste is subtle. The coconut and pineapple aromas linger, and since these scents last for a while, I find it quite satisfying while still being easy to drink.

I was expecting the new Recovery series to feel a bit thicker, since it contains 3g of collagen, but I didn’t notice much of an impact on the texture. It’s actually smoother and easier to drink than I anticipated.

The flavor reproduction of coconut and pineapple isn’t exactly impressive, and unfortunately, the artificial sweeteners’ unpleasant taste isn’t completely masked, which is a bit disappointing. If you’re expecting the full-sugar ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA from 2015, you might be let down.

The ROCKSTAR RECOVERY PINEAPPLE COCONUT is best enjoyed as a natural, zero-sugar coconut water, rather than expecting it to be a full-fledged coconut-pineapple drink.

With the release of this new product in 2022, the flavor name is now displayed at the bottom of the front of the can. The text is small and a bit hard to read, but it does give you an idea of the flavor in stores.

Instead of the caffeine content that was previously listed at the top, this can now shows the collagen content as a special ingredient.

And then there’s this strange, wavy pattern... This pattern will be adopted as the common design for the Rockstar Recovery series released in 2023 and beyond. Why...?

On the back of both sides of the can, the flavor name is listed, just like the Rockstar series up until 2022.

Personally, I think the combination of turquoise blue and black looks cool, but the Rockstar series as a whole underwent a full design revamp in 2023. The Recovery series, in particular, saw a major design change. Because of that, this design was updated after just five months.
