In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Rockstar with Lemon Tea Flavor

The can design gives a very bold and aggressive impression, but the contents are a lemonade flavor with a hint of tea, creating a flavor that doesn’t fully embrace the lemon tea profile.
It’s puzzling why such a design was chosen!

Overall, the lemonade flavor is dominant, with the tea barely noticeable. It feels like it’s stuck between two flavors, which makes it a bit odd.
The drink contains 2% lemon juice. The strong lemonade flavor is likely due to this amount of lemon juice, as well as a citric acid-like taste. It seems there is more citric acid than lemon juice.

Tea Flavor, Just to Try It

ROCKSTAR Recovery Tea Lemonade
I’m not particularly fond of tea myself, so I don't have a strong opinion on whether the Recovery Tea Lemonade is bad or good, but tea enthusiasts might find it somewhat lacking. I think it would’ve been better if they had just gone for a full lemon tea flavor.

ROCKSTAR Recovery Tea Lemonade
The flavor is described as tea, lemonade, and other natural flavors, but it’s a bit unclear.

The same American brand, Monster, has also released Rehab, so maybe they wanted to show off a tea-flavored energy drink. It’s possible that Rehab came out first, so it’s hard to say.
But honestly, this does resemble Rehab quite a bit (;´∀`)

By the way, the can is 15.5oz, not 16oz. I guess tea drinks are meant to be shaken. The other drinks in the Recovery series, Lemonade and Orange, were both 16oz.

I'd Like to Try a Strongly Sour Lemon Energy Drink

ROCKSTAR Recovery Tea Lemonade
With this packaging design, I can imagine it as a carbonated, intensely sour lemon energy drink. It’d match the image of something like Monster’s Extra Strength. If you’ve tried that one, you can easily imagine how intense it is. The scent of lemon would linger for hours, creating a similar impression of the harsh yellow and black color scheme (*´艸`*)
