Released for the 2020 winter season, the S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK 1001 Nacht is a private label energy drink from the superstore chain "SPAR." The flavor name, "1001 Nacht," refers to "One Thousand and One Nights."

This product wasn’t a limited edition and has since been made a regular item, which allowed me to purchase it during my 2024 trip to Austria.

I had been curious about the taste ever since I saw the bold design online. Around this time, the S BUDGET ENERGY series began releasing products without specific flavor names, making it difficult to imagine the taste based on the appearance and product name alone. Let’s dive into the review.

When you take a sip, a mix of sweet and sour plum, cherry, and ume (Japanese apricot) flavors burst in your mouth, with juicy fruitiness and fragrance spreading throughout. It’s even better than I expected...!

The subtle cinnamon aroma gently wraps around, transforming the fruit's savory flavors into a refined drinking experience.

It has a similar flavor to the Red Bull Winter Edition 2016 Zwetschke-Zimtknelke, but the S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK 1001 Nacht has more pronounced sourness and a juicier fruit essence.

The sweet and sour ume-like flavor, which is familiar to many Japanese people, provides a great accent, and personally, I find it a very enjoyable taste.

The aftertaste leaves a mild sourness, but it’s not heavy or sticky, offering a light and refreshing feel. The cinnamon fragrance isn’t overpowering, making it an easy drink to enjoy. This flavor can be enjoyed all year round, not just in winter.

I’m glad this didn’t remain a limited seasonal offering, but instead became a regular item.

When S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK 1001 Nacht was released in 2020, it was during the time of strict border controls due to COVID, so I thought I wouldn’t be able to find it again. But as of 2024, it seems it’s still in production, so if you get the chance, be sure to look for it at SPAR.

What is up with these bold colors and patterns!? When I saw the product name, "1001 Nacht" (One Thousand and One Nights), it all clicked—this exotic design makes sense now. However, the reasoning behind choosing "One Thousand and One Nights" as the product name remains unclear.

Around the time this S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK 1001 Nacht was released, the S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK series shifted to using "image designs" that avoid fruit illustrations, opting for more abstract and non-specific designs.

Though its appearance doesn’t give a clear hint of the flavor, all of the products in this series are delicious. It was an exciting release, and I look forward to future offerings.
