This is a review of the S BUDGET ENERGY DRINK Wassermelone, released in 2021 as part of the private-label energy drink series from the European supermarket chain "SPAR."

It was released as a low-priced PB energy drink, seemingly in response to the release of Red Bull SUMMER EDITION 2020 Watermelon in 2020.

This is a familiar clone product in the S BUDGET series. Now, let’s find out what kind of watermelon flavor they’ve recreated!

Upon opening, a sweet watermelon bar-like fragrance fills the air, with almost no trace of the characteristic grassy scent of watermelon. The liquid is a bright red, resembling artificially colored watermelon flesh. Let's take a sip.

When I take a sip, it tastes like sweet and sour watermelon candy, followed by a cosmetic-like aftertaste that lingers in the nose. This scent is jarring, making it hard to focus on the watermelon flavor.

I’ve had various watermelon-flavored drinks in the past, but this is the first time I’ve felt such discomfort. The artificial scent creates an off-taste, making it hard to enjoy the watermelon flavor.

Since the S BUDGET series is meant to be a widely accessible low-cost PB product, I don’t think they would intentionally introduce a flavor with such a distinctive twist. I wonder if it’s a mistake in the balancing of flavors?

Personally, I don't think I would revisit this flavor.
