SEMTEX ENERGY DRINK
SEMTEX is a long-standing energy drink brand from the Czech Republic, first launched in 1995.

This old design was used for many years until a major redesign in 2015 introduced a simpler matte black can. Another design change followed in 2019, completely replacing the classic look of SEMTEX that I'm reviewing here.

Personally, I prefer this older design (*´艸｀*).

Flavor of SEMTEX ENERGY DRINK

SEMTEX Original is a non-carbonated energy drink. Interestingly, another long-standing Czech energy drink brand, BIG SHOCK Original, is also non-carbonated. It's fascinating that both major Czech brands follow this trend.

Upon opening, a sweet, classic energy drink aroma fills the air.

Taking a sip, you get a blend of vitamin drink notes, a chemical-like taste, and the signature sweet scent of classic energy drinks.

Unlike heavy, syrupy classic flavors, SEMTEX has a smooth and refreshing texture, leaving no residue in your mouth. Despite being a non-carbonated classic-style drink, it's surprisingly easy to drink. If it were carbonated, the bubbles might interfere with this smooth drinking experience.

Even though it contains a significant amount of sugar, its drinkability as a non-carbonated beverage is remarkable. However, drinkability and taste are two different things... Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy SEMTEX Original again. Maybe it's because I'm already tired of classic flavors, but I also just enjoy the refreshing fizz of a well-chilled carbonated drink.

Contains 160mg of caffeine and 2000mg of taurine. There are no particularly unique ingredients included.

Design of SEMTEX ENERGY DRINK

SEMTEX is well-known for its explosive branding. Unfortunately, the design has since changed, so this iconic energy drink aesthetic is no longer available.

The back of the can only features a large "S" logo. It feels somewhat minimalistic, but in general, many brands keep their original flavor designs simple. Perhaps energy drinks shine best when displayed as a full lineup, and SEMTEX's other flavor designs are seriously intense.

Back in the day, SEMTEX was available in both 500ml and 250ml cans, though it seems only the 500ml version remains today. At the time, it had a bold and unmistakably energy drink-like design, which I personally loved.

Over the years, the 250ml can design went through various changes. After consuming quite a few, I realized that the lack of carbonation makes it less refreshing—so 500ml felt a bit too much, and even 250ml was borderline for me. I went through a fair number of 250ml cans, but in the end, SEMTEX Original never became a flavor I was hooked on (；´∀｀).
