In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of TIGER ARBUZI

Upon opening the can, a sweet and refreshing aroma, reminiscent of Japan's iconic "Suika Bar" (watermelon popsicle) and the watermelon taste often associated with Japanese flavor, fills the air.

In Western countries, the distinctive smell of watermelon is often described as the scent of a melon rind. However, TIGER ARBUZI has a smell that would appeal more to Japanese people, resembling the watermelon popsicle fragrance.

Flavor of TIGER ARBUZI

Upon tasting, there is a sweet and tangy mix of cherry and berry flavors, followed by the tartness of pomegranate, and then the sweet aroma of watermelon popsicle.

While the fragrance is that of a watermelon popsicle, the flavor is not a typical watermelon flavor but more akin to a sweet and tangy fruit punch, with the scent of watermelon layered over the fruit punch flavor.

The ability to recognize this “watermelon popsicle” aroma as a “watermelon-like” scent might vary by country or region. In Japan, this aroma is familiar, so most people will likely recognize it as watermelon.

It would be interesting to know if Polish people also perceive this scent as evoking watermelon flavor.

Energy Ingredients of TIGER ARBUZI

Energy Ingredients of TIGER ARBUZI

Contains 160mg of caffeine, with 20% fruit juice — 19% apple juice and 1% watermelon juice.

TIGER ARBUZI contains roughly half the sugar of a typical energy drink. The flavor is surprisingly robust and candy-like for a half-sugar type, which is quite unexpected. Personally, I support the trend of reducing sugar, and TIGER series has been increasingly following this trend since 2020, which I find favorable.

Design of TIGER ARBUZI

Design of TIGER ARBUZI

The combination of pink and light green TIEGR logos creates an image of watermelon flavor. There’s also a pixelated watermelon design featured.

For some reason, machine guns are also falling from the sky, and retro-style pixelated characters are placed in the background, giving it a retro game-like vibe.

Released in a retro game edition style, the two flavors debuted simultaneously. The other flavor, TIGER GRAPE POMEGRANATE, was unavailable in Poland but could be purchased in the Czech Republic. Be sure to check out my review for that one as well.
