Went to Monster Energy Headquarters
This is my second trip to California in 2016. This time, I visited the Monster Energy headquarters in the U.S.! ((o(´∀`)o))
I’ll also share some geeky details about the current state of energy drinks in America and more!
Author: Energy Drink-kun
In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
To Monster Energy Headquarters
I left the hotel early in the morning and headed to the town where the Monster Energy headquarters is located (quite rural).
This is what it looked like when I arrived. As I expected, there were really few people here.
Before I reached the Monster Energy headquarters around noon, I stopped by a few stores and secured some energy drinks, but I’ll talk more about that later.
Walking under the blazing sun, I finally saw the Monster Energy headquarters and its logo!
Such a moving moment!
As I walked forward, I reached Monster Street.
This was what I was so eager to see!
The entrance to the Monster Energy headquarters!
Amazing! (*´ェ`*)
Even the stone columns for the car stops had the Monster Energy logo on them...
And even the door handles had the Monster Energy logo!
The entrance was not very large, but it had an open space with an elevator in the back.
To the right of the entrance was the reception, and to the left, there was a small drink area and a meeting space.
Unfortunately, I can’t show you the deeper office spaces or other areas, but I had a great time experiencing everything I could! (●´ω`●)
The people at the headquarters were mostly young, but from the conversations I had, I noticed that older people seemed to be much more approachable and casual.
Currently, NOS and FULL THROTTLE are both under the Monster Energy umbrella, so the contact point for inquiries seems to be here. I’m not sure if these brand departments have all been gathered here.
The Energy Drinks I Was Targeting
First, I bought the NOS Energy Drink Rowdy, which is exclusive to 7-Eleven.
Since this is exclusive to 7-Eleven, it was heavily advertised in stores, and there were frequent 2-for-3-dollar discounts across brands, so I was happy to buy a lot of them together. (●´ω`●)
The set discount also included AMP. Actually, a new AMP flavor was released as a collaboration design with Twitch, and I was able to buy it at a discount along with the set. The full renewal of NOS during this trip made these cross-brand set discounts very helpful!
Next, I bought the RED BULL EDICION LIMON, which I had heard about in advance, but which wasn’t officially announced and couldn’t make the news. This was displayed just like any other new release. Before it was released, I thought it would be exclusive to Southern California, but it ended up being released nationwide. At the same time as this release, the 2016 Summer Edition would be available until stores ran out of stock.
The Gronk refrigerator as well.
With Halloween approaching, there was also this display. Rockstar always gives me the impression that these kinds of people are really working hard. (*´ェ`*)
A $1 sale. Actually, in stores that still had stock, they were selling for $2 or $3, so if you don’t know about this, you might end up buying them at a higher price.
And speaking of cheap, there were various Rockstar options.
4 cans for $5. This included all the new releases. I actually found this on the last night of the trip, and I hadn’t bought much Rockstar by then, so I felt lucky.
I also bought Rockstar Blackout, which is generally not sold in regular stores. One of my goals for this trip was to get Rockstar Blackout. I ended up buying a whole case.
At AMPM, I did my shopping with a big cart. Actually, it was a cart that was meant for oversized waste, but since I was buying so much, it was easier to use it to get everything to the checkout. Normally, there aren’t any carts or baskets, which can be very inconvenient for an energy drink enthusiast.
Went on a Little Hunt
This trip had such a tough schedule that I was more tired than I’ve ever been before, so I decided to change my plans and rest at the hotel. However, Drin-kun was still itching to go, so I ended up going on a real hunt by myself for about 3 hours.
And I didn’t bring any cash with me Σ(´∀`;)
Surprisingly, Drin-kun came to America without changing a single cent. I don’t usually carry cash, both in Japan and the U.S., so when I’m alone, I have zero cash. The area where I was hunting this time also added to the survival feeling, and it was quite thrilling!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t buy the hard-to-find Monster Energy M-80 with 80% juice at the store I found, as I was cashless. Turns out, America is not as much of a cash society as people think.
For those who know, you’ll understand that the rehab here is old. I didn’t take any photos, but I found M-80 80% and early Assault cases in another aisle. This is the joy of hunting. ((o(´∀`)o))
There was also a large stock of the old Ultra Black. Although it says “NEW,” the product is actually two years old. (^_^;)
Such old items don’t necessarily appear in rural areas and disappear in urban areas. It all comes down to luck.
However, luck can definitely be improved with experience and knowledge. During this hunt, I had only 3 hours for walking and commuting, so I quickly researched and pinpointed the perfect place for hunting based on the conditions.
Having specialized knowledge of energy drinks (without which you wouldn’t even know what’s special) is naturally important, but knowledge in other fields will help you attract more luck as well. By the way, this hunting ground was somewhere I had never been before, but I predicted the right place.
Next time, though, I should probably bring cash. (-_-;)
Oh, and since I didn’t have cash, I couldn’t shop at the nearby AMPM, but I did find this fridge.
I could really imagine wanting this with the wooden boards attached.
This trip was awesome – I visited the Monster Energy headquarters, took lots of pictures of energy drinks (which I always forget to do), and I got to explore the countryside. I had the best time as an energy drink traveler! (●´ω`●)
