Sydney Energy Drink Trip 2018 (November)
This was my second trip to Sydney in 2018, during the peak of summer! This time, my mission was to secure the V Energy Drink Deadpool 2 Edition before it sold out after the release of Deadpool 2 (*´ェ`*)

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Australia Even Released Mango Loco
After enjoying the beach and soaking in the summer vibe of Sydney, I headed back to the city in the evening for a quick hunt ((o(´∀`)o))
In 2018, two new Monster Energy flavors, VR46 Rossi and LH34 Lewis Hamilton, were released in Australia. This alone was surprising, but what’s even more shocking is that the Mango Loco, which has been trending worldwide, was also released. Australia is amazing!w
Both single cans and 4-can packs were available. I think this design is popular everywhere in the world. I went ahead and bought several packs.
Monster 250ml Packs Also Released
Starting this year, Monster Energy is selling 250ml mini-size packs of Monster Energy Original and Ultra in 6-can packs in Australia. Interestingly, the prices were the same at both supermarkets and convenience stores.
Given that they are already selling 500ml, I wonder if there’s really a need for a mini size. The 355ml cans also disappeared quickly and I didn’t see them last year. I suspect the 250ml size might also be short-lived, but I secured both for now! These are generally not sold as single cans. The 6-can pack costs around $10, which is fairly cheap.
V Energy’s Deadpool 2 Edition Complete
So, the main goal of this Sydney trip was to secure the V Energy Drink, Australia’s number one energy drink, and its Deadpool 2 collaboration limited-edition flavor. The movie is already over, and it was available on flights from Kuala Lumpur last week, so I figured the stores would no longer have it... but surprisingly, I found some! ((o(´∀`)o))
The first one I found was the 500ml size. These are expensive, about $6 per can. It's not the kind of price you can casually drink every day (^_^;)
Later, I visited various stores and found some 250ml cans in stock as well, so I managed to secure two sizes out of the three available.
The 275ml 4-can pack was difficult to find, but I managed to spot it in one store among many! In the end, this was the only store that had the 275ml cans (-_-;)
The 275ml size is just slightly shorter than the 250ml when lined up. Normally, this product isn’t sold individually, but some stores sell it at a higher price per can. I’m relieved to have all three sizes now ε-(´∀`*)ホッ
Then, on the last day in Australia, I accidentally stumbled upon the last glass bottle in a store during a shopping trip in the suburbs!
It was the only one left, tucked away in a corner! I was so excited (*´艸`*)
The limited quantity makes it quite rare. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get it, so it felt like a miracle (*´∀`*)
New V Flavors Keep Coming
As expected, with V holding the top market share in Australia, the rush of new flavor releases is incredible. It seems to have become a national soda far beyond just an energy drink.
There’s Tortured Orchard with raspberry and lemon, a strawberry with a rough texture on the can, and the third flavor of the season, Tropical Sugar-Free. I’m amazed at how many flavors they release each year.
The V Original campaign can. A new campaign is being held, and the prize is a V Best. I want one of those!!w
Also, it’s apparently possible to buy a separate pet best for dogs.

Among all the energy drinks in the world, V Energy Drink is personally my favorite, both in terms of flavor and as a brand. I’m truly captivated by it (●´ω`●)
Rockstar Has Gone Euro Again
Australia quietly released a new Rockstar flavor, Beach Blend, which was only available at a few select stores. Despite not being a huge seller, Rockstar continues to release new flavors, possibly thanks to its parent company, Full Core Suntory. Honestly, I think V is enough on its own (^_^;)
When I first found Beach Blend, I thought it was being released in two flavors like in the UK, so I made a trip to a top store in Sydney to check. However, there was only the Beach Blend flavor. Maybe it hasn’t been released yet, or maybe this is the only one. I’ll check again next year. It’s hard to find Rockstar information when I’m not in Australia, and every time I visit, I’m surprised.
By the way, the first-ever Rockstar Ginger Beer flavor has apparently already been discontinued. These were the only two cans I saw this time.
Red Bull's Energy Drink Traveler Drama
At the supermarket, there was a 6-can pack of Fruity Tag, but it only contained the regular cans, so I passed on it this time. If I started collecting boxes, my house would be full!w
The Winter Edition was also released. The color is crazy! The Winter Edition stock was running low, showing that new releases are always popular.
And at the end of my trip, I received information from a friend that the 473ml Limited Edition was released. I had completely forgotten about it, and since I hadn’t seen it at any of the stores I visited during my stay, I thought it was already sold out. But to my surprise...
I found stock in a small independent convenience store! I was totally surprised. Naturally, I grabbed all of them (*´艸`*) It’s amazing when this kind of thing happens...
The thrill of hunting for these drinks, like the V Deadpool 2 glass bottle, is all about these "discoveries."
During a short stay, finding these items relies on luck, intuition, and experience. The excitement when you finally find them is huge, and you can’t just think, "I’ll check next week."w
Being an energy drink traveler is the best v(´∀`*v)
