V Energy Drink was born in New Zealand, and its headquarters is in Auckland. Although it's a small country, it has a strong, locally rooted business philosophy. In 2006, they voluntarily reduced the sale of sugary drinks to children, and in 2017, they agreed with the New Zealand Beverage Council’s declaration to stop selling anything other than water in elementary and middle schools.

In 2002, V Energy Drink’s manufacturer, Frucor, was acquired by France’s Danone. Then, six years later, in 2008, Japan's Suntory acquired Frucor for approximately 75 billion yen, renaming the company Full Core Suntory.

Interestingly, not only Suntory but also Asahi and Kirin were also interested in the acquisition. At the time, Asahi was expected to be the most likely winner, but Suntory outbid everyone with an offer that exceeded expectations, securing the acquisition.
