In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of V ENERGY REFRESH PINEAPPLE & WATERMELON
When you open the can, a sweet and tangy pineapple candy-like aroma spreads. The color looks like pineapple yellow, but as with most V Energy series drinks, unless specified otherwise, the liquid color remains the same yellow as the original line. I assume this is also the same color as the original line.
Upon tasting, you get a sweet and tangy pineapple juice or pineapple ice cream-like flavor. The watermelon flavor is barely noticeable at room temperature and ends up tasting more like strawberry, similar to the "Monster Energy Reserve Watermelon."
There is no fruitiness, and it’s a type that allows you to enjoy the pineapple flavor in a refreshing way, without any unpleasant aftertaste from artificial sweeteners. The flavor has a mild taste of no fruit juice and a well-balanced, satisfying mouthfeel, which doesn’t usually come with zero sugar products.
The watermelon flavor is barely noticeable with ice, only lightly present. The main flavor is pineapple, so don't expect much from the watermelon taste.
Energy Ingredients of V ENERGY REFRESH PINEAPPLE & WATERMELON
It contains 156mg of caffeine and 600mg of guarana. There is no fruit juice, and it’s a zero-sugar drink.
Design of V ENERGY REFRESH PINEAPPLE & WATERMELON
The can has a smooth matte texture with a pink color and a simple design featuring only text. It somewhat gives off a natural, soft vibe that could be aimed at a female audience. Notably, the V logo is not in V green.
However, the combination of pink and pineapple flavor seems a bit mismatched. It feels like the atmosphere is leading the product, rather than the taste itself.
In fact, this design is different from previous V Energy drinks, and it was released as part of the sugar-free series, which is still not that common in the Australian energy drink market. The product aims to attract potential V Energy drink fans, as revealed by the manufacturer.
I'm curious to see how far this series will expand in the future.
