V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE

Posted on December 28, 2023 | Last updated January 30, 2025

V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE
In 2023, the V Energy Drink series underwent a full flavor renewal. The initial flavor of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE, released in 2020, has also been switched to a new flavor.

For the first time since its launch in 1997, the V Energy brand has changed its flavor, and all the flavors, including the original, have been renewed. What does the new V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE taste like now?

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE

Upon opening the can, a fresh, mixed fruit aroma of apple, pineapple, peach, and orange bursts out. The scent is identical to the previous old V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE. Now, let's take a sip.
Flavor of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE
When you take a sip, you'll experience a tropical fruit mix of pineapple and peach as the base, along with hints of orange, apple, and papaya. The acidity is mild, and a gentle, clear sweetness spreads across the palate.

Compared to the previous version of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE, the acidity is noticeably reduced, allowing the gentle sweetness to stand out. It seems that V ENERGY has toned down the acidity and enhanced the apple flavor in the original formula.

Thanks to the reduced acidity, the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners is almost completely gone. It's interesting to see how much more enjoyable the drink becomes just by reducing the acidity.

If you enjoy this natural drinking experience, you might find that you don't need to buy the full-sugar version of V BLUE. If you're traveling to Australia or New Zealand, I highly recommend buying both versions and comparing the taste.

It contains 156mg of caffeine and 600mg of guarana. Unlike the full-sugar version of V BLUE, the sugar-free version does not contain taurine.

When comparing the new and old designs, the new version is entirely blue. Previously, the V green was used around the logo for every flavor, but with the design update, the colors are now unified, creating a more composed impression.
Design of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE
The standard flavors have a simple can design, so the V green in the logo used to feel somewhat out of place. With the design update, it now looks more natural. Personally, I think this new design suits the standard flavors much better.

The V logo now has a three-dimensional effect, with smaller V logos swirling around it in the design.
Design of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE
The V ENERGY regular line of products has never been particularly intricate in design, and since the design has remained largely unchanged since 1997, I think this level of change is appropriate.

There were also minor changes to the nutritional information on the back, mainly in the color scheme due to the design update.
Design of V ENERGY SUGARFREE BLUE
In the old design, the V green used in the logo was applied to the border color, but in the new design, the border color has been unified to match the can color, a blue hue. It could be said that the V green had previously been a defining element, for better or worse.
