WATT ENERGY ISOTONIC
WATT, a low-cost energy drink brand from Hungary, released the WATT ISOTONIC, a sports drink type energy drink.
It’s not your typical sports drink product but an energy drink designed for sports that contains fruit juice with a citrusy flavor, allowing you to enjoy the umami of citrus fruits. It’s quite unique, isn’t it? (^_^;)

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Gentle Citrus Flavor with Enjoyable Grapefruit Juice
At first, it looks like a typical sports drink, but with its yellow, cloudy color and the rich scent of lemon, it actually appears to be a fruit juice blend. It looks incredibly delicious!
Upon tasting, you’re greeted with a light, refreshing grapefruit flavor. Among sports drink-type energy drinks, this one stands out as the most delicious (๑´ڡ`๑).
The combination of the refreshing bitterness of grapefruit and the tangy sourness of lemon creates a rich taste, but with no lingering aftertaste, making it easy to drink during exercise. You won’t find another energy drink for sports that lets you enjoy this much fruit flavor.
By the way, WATT ISOTONIC contains 6% fruit juice, and you can see some floating granules. While there are no thick sediment particles, it doesn’t exactly look like a typical sports drink (;´∀`). It’s more of an energy drink with a citrus flavor that allows you to enjoy the fruitiness, umami, aroma, and flavor changes, rather than a hydration-based sports drink.
WATT ENERGY ISOTONIC's Energy Ingredients
It contains no caffeine, but does include vitamin C, vitamin E, and 6% lemon and grapefruit juice.
It’s rare for a sports drink to contain fruit juice, right? (^_^;) Looking at the energy ingredients, it’s a bit unclear what they’re aiming for.
WATT ENERGY ISOTONIC's Design
The can features a gold mirror finish, and at the bottom, it’s labeled as a sports drink. Since it doesn’t contain caffeine, WATT may be marketing it separately from their usual energy drink lineup.
However, it's rare to find a sports drink that offers this much enjoyment from citrus fruit flavors. Personally, I find WATT ISOTONIC to be incomparably more delicious than typical artificial sports drinks, so I recommend simply enjoying the taste without overthinking it.
Due to the full product redesign, WATT ENERGY ISOTONIC was discontinued in 2018, meaning you can no longer experience this citrusy, fruit-juice-infused flavor in a sports drink. It’s a shame...
