Review : Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Flavor

Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Flavor
Following Marshmello, the second installment of Coca-Cola CREATIONS series, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Soul Blast, is a collaboration with "BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War." It’s Zero Sugar and Zero Calories, which I’m personally really happy about.

That being said, I tend to be a bit skeptical about cola-flavored Zero-Zero drinks, so I’m more curious about how the cola flavor is executed in this limited edition "Action Flavor." Rather than just wondering what it tastes like, I’m really keen to see how well they’ve nailed the cola flavor.

This review is by Energy Drink Enthusiast, Energy-Doringu-kun, who has tried over 1000 energy drink flavors worldwide—he’ll give a "laid-back" review on Coca-Cola Soul Blast, without even tasting it.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of Coca-Cola Soul Blast

The aroma is like regular cola, with a sweet, creamy scent. It feels pretty standard. The color is also just like regular cola.

The taste has a mild sweetness that lingers, with no sourness and no sharp finish. The cola flavor is maintained, while a gentle sweetness wraps around it.

Contrary to the bubbly carbonation that foams up when poured into a glass, the sensation is very mild. Compared to the original Coca-Cola, the flavor is too gentle, and there’s no sign of the "action flavor" that might give the drink a punch.

The soft sweetness and creamy flavor are reminiscent of a cola float. While it retains the base cola flavor, there's a hint of creaminess, giving it a smoother taste. Honestly, I wish there was a bit more of the Coca-Cola sharpness.

Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Flavor
Even when drinking it quickly with ice, it doesn’t have much of a satisfying feel. You might either find the smooth, sweet ice-cream-like taste refreshing or feel that it lacks punch.

Also, people who don’t usually drink Zero-Zero beverages might be surprised by how sweet it is despite being Zero Sugar.

Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Design and BLEACH Collaboration
I’m not very familiar with anime, manga, or games, so I know of BLEACH but have never watched it, and I didn’t know "Ichigo Kurosaki, the main character" either Σ(´∀`;)

Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Design and BLEACH Collaboration
Like with Marshmello, the 355ml US size feels similar to major energy drink brands in Japan, and it's often displayed in stores in the same section.

The price is a bit higher, around 150 yen including tax, which is comparable to premium-priced energy drinks.

Review of Coca-Cola Soul Blast Design and BLEACH Collaboration
Compared to the bulky, less stylish 500ml and 350ml cans, this slim and chic design, paired with the impression of a major energy drink, feels like a perfect match for this price.

However, if I were to drink a cola-flavored beverage, I’d probably go with the original Coca-Cola, which is cheaper and undeniably tastier. Limited edition flavors and products like this are often a one-time purchase to try out. While I’m fine with the flavor, I don’t feel compelled to buy it again once the stock runs out.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Soul Blast is a limited edition product available at convenience stores and widely sold, so if you're curious to try it, make sure to grab one soon!
