ZONe QUICK BOOST
In July 2021, the ZONe Quick Boost, a short can from the ZONe series, was first sold in select vending machines* as a limited release. The product name "Quick Boost" cleverly ties into the version number "0.9.19 (Quick)."
*Initially available in Tokyo and 9 surrounding prefectures (Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Nagano, Niigata, Yamanashi), it was launched nationwide in vending machines from September 2021.
Since then, it has been upgraded from β Ver. 0.9.19 to the official release, Ver. 1.0.0, which unfortunately means the fun of the version-based wordplay is no longer available... I've also updated the energy ingredient section to match Ver. 1.0.0.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of ZONe Original's Richness
When I open the can, I get the familiar ZONe Original scent. How many bottles of the 500ml beta version have I drunk... The color of the drink is also the classic yellow you'd expect.
The taste is dense and sweet-sour, a classic flavor. The unique chemical scent of ZONe lingers in the nose, adding to the rich taste. It’s almost the same flavor as the usual ZONe Original.
Quick Boost has a slightly thicker texture than the regular ZONe Original, with a richer sweetness and fragrance. It’s a more concentrated ZONe Original flavor, compressed into the 240ml size, with not only energy ingredients but also a richer taste and aroma.
Considering the taste, ingredients, and the overall density of the drink, it might be similar to Monster Energy M3.
Compared to M3, the Quick Boost has 240ml, so it might feel a bit too much for a shot-sized drink, but it’s the perfect amount for quenching thirst or getting satisfaction from the drink.
Personally, I find the 500ml of ZONe Original too much to finish, so the size of this Quick Boost was just right for me. It’s priced at 140 yen from vending machines (though many places sell it for 160 yen). For those who prioritize cost performance and typically buy ZONe Original 500ml, this might feel a bit pricey.
Review of ZONe QUICK BOOST Ver.1.0.0
The beta version, Ver. 0.9.19, released in 2022, has now been officially upgraded to Ver. 1.0.0.
Personally, I preferred the playful versioning of "Ver. 0.9.19," but it’s now officially Ver. 1.0.0, which is a bit disappointing in a way.
The flavor remains the same, with the signature chemical taste of ZONe combined with the rich, thick texture typical of Quick Boost. The strong taste from the 240ml mini can is still there. I wonder if the increased glucose in Ver. 0.9.19 made the taste even richer?
Energy Ingredients of ZONe QUICK BOOST
Here are the energy ingredients for ZONe QUICK BOOST β Ver. 0.9.19. It contains 75mg of caffeine and 480mg of arginine. These are standard amounts for the 240ml size.
When comparing Ver. 0.9.19 and Ver. 1.0.0, there’s no change in the amount of caffeine and arginine, but the palatinose has been reduced and glucose has increased, leading to a slight increase in calories.
Palatinose was marketed as a sustained-release ingredient, but perhaps with this upgrade, the focus shifted more to the taste rather than the ingredients.
Design of ZONe QUICK BOOST β Ver. 0.9.19
ZONe Energy Drink Ver. 2.0.0 features the same power button logo and plasma-like light. The "QUICK BOOST" text is highlighted with a blue-white electric current.
This Quick Boost, sold in vending machines as a “beta version,” has a silver top and is labeled with "β Ver. 0.9.19" on the can. When it officially releases, will it become “Ver. 1.9.19”? Or will it end here if sales aren’t good? → In 2022, it was upgraded with a black top.
When comparing it to Ver. 2.0.0, you can see the plasma color is different. By the way, has anyone else found ZONe’s new logo to be a bit difficult to see...? (^_^;)
Comparison of Ver. 0.9.19 and Ver. 1.0.0 Designs
With the official release, the silver top was changed to a black top. This is similar to when ZONe Original changed from β to Ver. 1.0.0. The lightning bolt around the logo gives it an even more powerful feel. However, I doubt people who don’t follow ZONe’s updates will notice the version change (^_^;)
Easy-to-Drink Size of Quick Boost
After trying the 240ml mini size, I think this amount is just right for the rich taste and fragrance of ZONe.
Considering the amount of carbohydrates and calories consumed in one drink, the mini size of Quick Boost is easy to grab for many people. After drinking Quick Boost, I also felt that the 500ml size is a bit too much and hard to finish.
However, ZONe's larger 500ml versions are often chosen for their high cost-performance at around 200 yen, so it’ll be interesting to see how consumers perceive the slightly more expensive 240ml size at around 150 yen.
By the way, when Ver. 1.0.0 was released, I went vending machine-hopping and found ZONe QUICK BOOST priced at 160 yen and 130 yen. Quite a price difference... Σ(´∀`;)
Price difference????

Once it's no longer Ver. 0919, the fun of the naming disappears...https://t.co/baekilHH89 pic.twitter.com/1PeejcoGbR
It would be great if most vending machines offered it for around 130 yen. I avoided the 160 yen one because it was too expensive and walked around to find the 130 yen Quick Boost! Be sure to look for the cheaper vending machines.
Buying ZONe Quick Boost in Bulk Online
Originally exclusive to vending machines in the beta version, but now it seems you can buy it on Amazon and Rakuten after the update.

If you like the ZONe flavor but find 500ml too much, this is a great option.

Everyone's ZONe QUICK BOOST taste and ingredient opinions and ratings
★★★
